'Smallville': Get a look at the Justice Society

A few pictures from "Smallville's" two-hour Justice Society movie have made their way online, revealing the looks of several superhero guest stars. The two episodes, "Society" and "Legends," will feature, among other characters, DC Comics heroes Hawkman, Doctor Fate and Stargirl. The show, which has so far shied away from putting Clark Kent (Tom Welling) in full Superman regalia, apparently doesn't have such qualms about its guest stars. Take a look at "Stargate's" Michael Shanks as Hawkman: Brent Stait ("Andromeda") is under the helmet as Doctor Fate, and Britt Irvin ("V") is playing Stargirl. Hawkman and Oliver Queen/Green Arrow (Justin Hartley) have a bit of a disagreement -- as they so often do in the comics. 'American Idol': Listen to Allison Iraheta's 'Just Like You'

Allison Iraheta was the designated rocker girl on "American Idol" last season, but her album "Just Like You" reminds us of a more pop-minded past "Idol" contestant: Kelly Clarkson. The 13 tracks on "Just Like You" -- which are streaming on MySpace Music and IdolBlogLive -- are a collection of radio-ready pop songs with a slight edge provided by Iraheta's pleasingly raspy voice. She doesn't have the sheer power or range of Clarkson, but none of these tunes would sound out of place on a Clarkson record (no surprise there -- one of the producers Iraheta worked with, Max Martin, has also collaborated with Clarkson). It's a nice first effort for the 17-year-old, whose album goes on sale Tuesday (Dec. 1), a week after records from her fellow "Idol" season eight contestants Kris Allen and Adam Lambert hit stores. William J. Bresnan, 76, one of the true poineers in the cable industry, has died of complications of cancer. Bresnan, one the best recognized figures in the cable industry, was known as Bill by his legends of friends. He passed away on Friday, Nov. 27th at home in Greenich, CT.A native of Mankato, Minnesota, he was involved in cable for more than 50 years. He disigned his first cable system in Rochester, Minnesota--not far from Mankato--in 1958.According to his official biography, "when that system was acquired by West Coast entrepreneur Jack Kent Cooke in 1965, he joined the Cooke executive team. Cooke’s holdings ultimately were merged with TelePrompTer Corporation, at that time the nation’s largest cable operating company. Mr. Bresnan served as President of TelePrompTer’s Cable Television Division from 1974 to 1981, at which time Westinghouse Electric purchased TelePrompTer and Mr. Bresnan became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the new company, Group W Cable. ...

Chris Brown tapes '20/20' interview

Chris Brown will discuss his assault of Rihanna in an interview on ABC's "20/20" in December. The singer, who pleaded guilty in June to assaulting his then-girlfriend and is currently serving probation for the crime, will appear on the newsmagazine on Dec. 11. "Good Morning America's" Robin Roberts taped what's being called an "in-depth" interview with Brown last weekend, the AP reports. Clips from the interview may also run on "GMA," an ABC spokesman says. Brown has an album, "Graffiti," due for release Dec. 8, and there have also been reports that he would perform on the morning show to promote the record's release. Brown has done several interviews since his guilty plea, sitting with Larry King shortly after the case wrapped up and earlier this month on MTV News. Fast National ratings for Friday, Nov. 27, 2009 The broadcast networks were mostly in rerun and movie mode on the day after Thanksgiving, but as usual CBS finished the night on top. CBS averaged 5.3 million viewers and a 3.5 rating/6 share in households in primetime. FOX (4.8 million, 2.6/5) finished second. ABC's 4.4 million viewers and 2.9/5 were good enough for third, topping NBC's 3.7 million and 2.4/4. The CW (1.2 million, 0.8/1) was in the back of the pack. FOX led the adults 18-49 demographic, albeit with just a modest 1.4 rating. CBS took second with a 1.2, and ABC and NBC tie for third at 1.1. The CW came in at 0.5. Both slots were new releases at the 2009 Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas. In "American Idol," slot players can trigger a bonus round that lets them become one of three judges -- Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi or Randy Jackson -- and then plays video clips of past contestants, good AND bad. 'Burn Notice,' 'Psych' get January dates

USA will shake up its original series slate a little bit in January as both "White Collar" and "Psych" will move to new nights. "Burn Notice" also has an official return date, though it's staying put on Thursday nights. The cable channel's winter slate ill kick off on Jan. 19 when "White Collar" moves from Friday to Tuesday. The back half of "Burn Notice's" third season will debut Thursday, Jan. 21. "Psych," which has aired on Fridays for much of its life, will move to Wednesday nights beginning Jan. 27. That will give USA three consecutive nights of original series. (And at least a portion of the NBC Universal empire will have scripted dramas at 10 p.m. ET.) New 'Bachelor' Jake Pavelka's first foray onto the small screen was not on "The Bachlorette." Video below. Back in 1999, under the stage name Jake Landrum, newest ABC 'Bachelor' Jake Pavelka played a young Cordell Walker on the "Walker: Texas Ranger" episode "Team Cherokee: Part I." Apparently, Chuck Norris liked what he saw because Jake was AGAIN cast as a younger version of a Norris character in made-for-TV movie "The President's Man." Hee!
